While enjoying meals at home with family and friends, I noticed that I didn’t get a lot of time to visit because I was slaving over a hot stove for hours to prepare what I thought was traditional Italian cuisine. You had to simmer something and add all different kinds of spices throughout the day to get it right! I learned from my Father who cooked family recipes that were brought over from Italy! Although old family recipes are somewhat sacred, I knew that with today’s fast paced environment, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy entertaining if I was behind the stove all the time. I had to develop a spice blend that allows simple access to flavor, without lengthy cooking processes. After 5 years of development and an increase in repeat dinner guests, including my parents, I decided to bottle my spice and share it with family and friends! After a few refills, I decided I may want to share it with all of you! I contemplated this for years but never pursued it.
In the last two years from 2009, I lost both my Mother and Father which gave me a new perspective on things. In going through countless photos where family and friends were gathered over the barbeque or stove, the smiles reminded me how important these times were to everyone and how much I cherished them myself! I decided right then that I wanted to share our experiences as family and friends growing up through this spice.
DL Foods, LLC was founded in 2010 as a result of many years of developing a spice blend and remembering how much we enjoyed family and friends! We plan to develop many more items that reflect simple ways to add flavor in numerous cooking applications. Stay tuned for more inspiration!
